The way your skin looks as you age is determined by various factors.

Primarily there will be a genetic element, which will influence your skin, and then other external elements can age skin and increase wrinkles, such as smoking and drinking.

Your eating habits will also affect the way your skin looks; the healthier the foods you consume are the healthier your skin will appear.he first wrinkles on your skin appear when there is a breakdown or decrease in collagen in the upper layer of the skin; therefore collagen must be produced in order to refurbish the upper layer of the skin.

It is important to avoid damaging agents such as Ultra Violet rays from the sun, stress and pollution, some creams can help avoid or get rid of wrinkles and lines from the skin.

When choosing creams you should be looking for substances such as retinoid, which is a vitamin A element, which can help prevent wrinkles and hide any lines you already have.

Sunscreen is also an important defence if you want your face, neck and hands to appear younger for longer, wear sunscreen at all times, regardless of the weather conditions.

With a balanced diet that includes antioxidants you will be preventing the breakdown of collagen, you will find antioxidants in teas or other similar drinks. Food and drink with a high level of vitamin C and A are also recommended for good looking skin, while Q10 a coenzyme will help maintain the collagen intact.

Before you use any product on your skin, make sure you find out which elements and substances are suitable for your skin type.

While summer may be welcome after a long dreary winter and spring, it can be harmful to your body if you are overexposed to sunshine and develop sunburn, or with extreme overexposure, develop cancer.

To help people enjoy the sun without its harmful effects here are a few helpful tips provided by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals.

First of all, you should stay away from the sunshine if it can be helped between 10am to 4pm due to the fact that the sun’s rays are strongest during this time of the day even on an overcast part of the day.

Aim for the shade if possible and be sure to apply sunscreen regularly if you cannot avoid the sun.Regardless of what time you are outside, sunscreen is always a requirement. Proper sunscreen needs to have a SPF of at least 15 or high with both UVB and UVA protection. Sunscreen should be applied about a half an hour before you head out and every hour or two that you are in the sun.

Finally, remember to cover your body as much as possible and apply sunscreen everywhere that is not covered including the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and hands which are all places people neglect but can still develop skin cancer.

Many women will find themselves with stretch marks after pregnancy or rapid weight loss, during puberty often girls in particular, will suffer from them until their body is fully developed.

It is not a sign of anything bad; in fact the only reason to worry about them is because of their ugly appearance.

For anyone considering a beach holiday, stretch marks that tend to occur in the tummy region, breast area and upper thighs, are not a good look.

There are many products marketed to remove the marks but these can usually only lighten them and therefore make them much less obvious. It is often the case that the individual who has the stretch marks, thinks they are much more noticeable than they actually are. Most times the problem will fade away after a couple of months on its own accord.

If you are determined not to develop stretch marks during your pregnancy then regular moisturizing will stop the skin from getting irritated and therefore itching. Sometimes it is the actual itching of these susceptible areas that exacerbate the problem.

Keeping the skin more flexible as the body expands, it is important to know the ingredients of any skin care creams etc that you use as something like Retin-A is potentially harmful to the fetus developing in your body. Simple oil is usually better.

Stretch marks can take many forms and be different sizes and colors, based on how fast the skin is contracting and your own natural skin tone, respectively.

For most pregnant women they develop during the final gestation period. It all come about because the supportive tissue just below the skin lose its elasticity.

After the birth, gentle exercises will help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, as will improving your diet. Obviously if you are breast feeding be hesitant of trying to lose any weight as your baby requires certain food supplements from you.

You can continue to use a cream to keep the skin moisturized, look out for ones that include cocoa butter or glycolic acid, both of which have been scientifically proved to assist in removing the ugly look of stretch marks.

If you are really concerned about how your stretch marks look and it is beginning to affect your life, creating a lack of self confidence and feeling of low self esteem, then cosmetic surgery is an option, albeit a very expensive one.

Now a days itchy skin rash has become one of the most common problems where some are simple and the other may be life threatening.

An area of inflamed and irritated skin is called rash. Itching, swelling, and redness are the characteristics of rash.

It is also important to know that the chemicals and ingredients that are used in skin care products can sometimes be the source of itchy skin rash.

There are many types of skin rashes. Dermatitis is the common rash characterized by inflammation, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, etc. Dermatitis is also called as eczema.

There are different forms of dermatitis that cause itchy skin rash. The most common form of dermatitis is atopic dermatitisAtopic dermatitis (atopic eczema) is characterized by distinctive phenomena of atopy (hypersensitivity to environmental allergens) including infantile and flexural eczema.

This affects 10-15 percent of children, but improves later in the childhood. This is hereditary as genetics play a major role in this type of dermatitis, for example asthma.

Contact dermatitis is another form of dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is a localized skin rash, resulting from exposure to some irritating substances or allergens. Depending on the skin exposure, it is classified as irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a scaly macular eruption, which occurs mainly on the face, scalp, behind the ears, and in the other areas of increased sebaceous gland secretion. This seborrheic dermatitis is characterized by waxy scales and reddened skin.

Hand eczema is limited to hands only. This occurs because of exposure to strong detergents or frequent washing. Sometimes hand eczema is also caused by latex.

Asteatotic eczema is an eczema that dries the skin and causes fine cracks on the skin. This usually affects the lower extremities where the oil glands are few. This eczema usually occurs during winter months.

Dermatitis herpetiformis also causes itchy skin rash that usually affect the outer aspects of the elbows and knees, across the shoulders, and the buttocks. If the rash is mild, it is limited to the affected area and if the rash is severe enough then it is widespread.

Nummular eczema is characterized by discrete coin-shaped patches, which can affect at any age, but most commonly seen after 60 years. The cause of this is unknown.

Stasis dermatitis is dermatitis with itchy skin rash that usually affects the lower extremities (calves, ankles, feet) in the people who has poor blood circulation in the legs. This is characterized by leg swelling, skin redness, weeping sores, red bumps, etc.

Lichen simplex chronicus is a form of dermatitis, which is caused by repeat scratching or rubbing of the skin in one location.

The itchy skin rash that occurs in infants or toddlers is diaper dermatitis. There are other types of skin rashes that can affect the infant during the first few weeks of life. Impetigo, scarlet fever, miliaria rubra, etc are some of the skin diseases seen in young children.

It is better to try natural remedies for itchy skin rashes. Also, it is important to see doctor for appropriate diagnosis.

The only thing worse than reoccurring acne, is the scars that it can often leave behind on the face.

Science does not have a clear answer for why some people develop acne scars and some people do not, but one thing is for sure, if you suffer from them they can be quite bothersome.

Most likely acne scarring occurs when acne is deeper in the skin and is a form known as inflammatory nodulocystic. Sometimes acne scarring may also be the result of lesions that are superficial but highly inflamed on the skin. There are two prominent forms of acne scarring. The first is one that is caused, known as an ice-pick scar and can look somewhat like a small dent in your face or wherever the scar is located on your body. They are usually smaller and have an uneven edge and develop in an array of several different depths.

If they are soft to the touch sometimes stretching the skin can help improve how noticeable they are but larger ice pick scars with steep sides may be much more noticeable and less easy to fix. Usually however, larger ice pick scars appear in other areas of the body not the face.

The second type of acne scarring is known as keloid scars which are formed when there is an increase in tissue and collagen produced by the body to help aid damaged skin cells.

In other words, these scars are most likely to form if you pick a pimple because you activated the skin’s natural response mechanism to damaged cells.

Unfortunately, while this temporarily may help in the long run, too much collagen is released and it becomes a fibrous mass that is firm and an odd shape that rests on your face or other areas of your body.

Generally speaking, there are three ways that you can help reduce the appearance of acne scarring on your face. The first is visiting a dermatologist who will numb your face with a local anesthetic and use a vibrating circular brush to remove damaged skin and blend the lines of the scars back into the face. This treatment is not recommended for people with deeper scars or with dark skin as it may alter pigmentation.

The second treatment is more for people with deep scars and utilizes fat that is stored in your body. During the treatment excess fat is infected into the skin surface to help smooth out sunken scars and make them less noticeable.

People with ice pick scars often find that this treatment is successful but due to shifting skin patterns it will have to be repeated every six to 18 months. Also commonly used are collagen injections which can help stretch out some surface acne scars.
